Brazilian Academy of Medicine : ウィキペディア英語版 | Academia Nacional de Medicina Academia Nacional de Medicina is the Brazilian National Academy of Medicine, a body composed by the most august representatives of Brazilian medicine. The Academy was founded during the First Empire (Dom Pedro I), on June 30, 1829 under the name of ''Sociedade de Medicina do Rio de Janeiro''. On May 8, 1835 it received the charter of the Imperial Regency to become the Imperial Academy of Medicine. Finally, after the declaration of the Republic, its name was changed to the present one, on November 21, 1889. The first president was Joaquim Cândido Soares de Meirelles. The current president (2005-2007 term) is Antonio Luiz de Medina. ==List of Members==
